Schools

The School of Marxism of Shandong University of Art is a directly affiliated second-tier teaching and research unit of the university. Its predecessor was the Marxist-Leninist Teaching and Research Office, which evolved through stages including the Teaching and Research Office of Ideological and Political Theory Courses and the Teaching Department, before being officially established in December 2018.

The school currently has 31 faculty members, including 3 professors and 13 associate professors; 16 teachers hold doctoral degrees. It has 1 candidate for the Shandong Provincial Theoretical Talent "Hundred Talents Project" and 2 Outstanding Ideological and Political Theory Course Teachers of Shandong Universities, forming a teaching team with a rational structure and excellent quality.

The school has 5 teaching and research offices, which are fully responsible for the teaching of ideological and political theory courses across the university. For undergraduate students, it offers 9 courses such as Basic Principles of Marxism, Ideology, Morality and Rule of Law, Outline of Modern Chinese History, Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. For master’s students, it offers courses including Research on the Theory and Practice of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

Adhering to the philosophy of "promoting teaching through competitions", the school’s teachers have won numerous awards in provincial and above-level teaching competitions. The course Ideology, Morality and Rule of Law has been approved as a provincial-level "Golden Course"中国政府网. In terms of scientific research, the school has undertaken 3 National Social Science Fund Projects and more than 10 provincial and ministerial-level projects, published 6 monographs and a number of high-quality papers, and built 2 university-level scientific research platforms. There are currently 2 master’s supervisors, who train postgraduate students in art theory under the School of Art Management.

Upholding the cultural philosophy of "Integrating Theory with Art, Cultivating Virtue and Advocating Aesthetics", the school adheres to the principles of "building the school through political integrity and developing the school through progress". It is committed to constructing an ideological and political theory course teaching model with characteristics of art academies, fulfilling the fundamental task of fostering morality and cultivating people, and contributing to the university’s development into a high-level art university and its future progress.
