On October 18, at the Palazzo Becchi Art Palace in Florence, Italy, the Italian Academy of Fine Arts held an appointment ceremony for newly elected academicians. Upon the recommendation and election by the Academy's Academician Committee, Xu Qingfeng, a renowned Chinese oil painter and President of Shandong University of the Arts, was elected Corresponding Academician of the Painting Academy. Professor Cristina Acidini, President of the Italian Academy of Fine Arts, read out the appointment letter and presided over the ceremony. Unable to attend the event due to work commitments, Xu Qingfeng's academician certificate and medal were collected on his behalf by Professor Giorgio Bonsanti, Secretary-General of the Italian Academy of Fine Arts, and Professor Luca Macchi, President of the Oil Painting Academy.
